About this deal

As Google’s first wireless earbuds with ANC, it did a great job with the Pixel Buds Pro. When ANC mode is engaged, it provides excellent dampening of everything but the highest of frequencies. Right now, as I type, I have a fan below my desk keeping me cool during this intense summer heat, but other than feeling the air across my ankles, I have almost no awareness of it at all. Other noises, like traffic, or the din of construction are also well contained. Touch and hold either bud to switch between the various ANC and Ambient modes. You can optionally add an Off option for the ANC and Ambient modes to the on-ear controls via the app, as well as assign this gesture to summon Google Assistant on one or both earpieces. We didn't have any issue with the touch controls in testing, but would still prefer the option to customize the controls more extensively via the app.

While the Google Pixel Buds Pro follow the aesthetic of the Google Pixel Buds A-Series released in 2020, they nevertheless stand out from those with a more rounded design in the centre of which we find the famous G symbol that represents the brand. They are equipped with small support wings to offer maximum stability during your exercise or running sessions. Each earpiece has touch controls for accepting or rejecting calls, media controls, activating the active noise cancellation mode or changing the volume, similar to the AirPods Pro 2. Say Hello to ANC! A nice touch is being able to switch into transparency mode before or during a call so you can hear your own voice as clearly as you hear your callers, which helps reduce calling fatigue. Transparency on the Buds Pro is top-notch and within spitting distance of the AirPods Pro, which, despite being almost four years old, are still the best. The Pixel Buds Pro don’t quite elevate themselves to that magical feeling of wearing nothing, but you’ll have no problem at all hearing what you need and want to hear, including your own voice and those around you.

How Do I Connect My Google Pixels Buds Pro?

You can learn more about Google’s Pixel Buds below. Google is set to release the earbuds start in July 2022. A post-launch update will deliver support for Spatial Audio, a “3D” audio technique first pushed by Apple’s AirPods, and since adopted by Samsung’s earbuds as well. More on Pixel Buds: They are incredibly close performance-wise on things like sound quality, ANC, transparency, battery life, and wireless charging, and they even share features like Bluetooth multipoint, a fit test, and find my earbuds. Active Noise Cancellation? Yes, it's good, as is transparency. You cannot tweak the levels of either further than 'on' or 'off', but that's acceptable here given the efficacy of each. And the battery life is pretty stellar. With ANC off, you'll get up to 11 hours of listening time from the buds, and up to 31 hours total listening time with the charging case. With active noise cancellation on, you get up to seven hours of earbuds listening time and up to 20 hours of total listening time with the charging case – that's much better from just the buds than the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro or AirPods Pro, though is less total life than the AirPods Pro give you.

The Google Pixel Buds Pro's battery provides 7 hours of battery life per charge with the ANC feature activated, a remarkable runtime that places these earbuds among the best in this field. The wireless earbuds can be recharged via the included charging case, which provides an additional 13 hours of battery life. This in turn can be recharged via a USB-C cable or by induction using a Qi-compatible charger. Pixel Buds Pro: Price UK Google’s upcoming Pixel Buds Pro look like an exciting release from their battery life to the addition of active noise cancellation. Like in years past, though, Google won’t be selling Pixel Buds Pro in every region, and availability of certain colors will be limited in select regions. While the Google Pixel Buds Pro improve a lot on the preceding Pixel Buds A-Series, the design hasn't changed radically. Apart from the brighter orange and yellow colors, the other two are similar to the older generation wireless earbuds from Google. Using the Pixel Buds Pro for calls or videoconferencing works very well indoors, in quiet environments and you can get decent results outdoors or in noisy spots too, but it’s something of an uneven performance. We've converted this review to Test Bench 1.6 , which updates how we measure latency. We've updated and renamed the following test groups: Wired Connection, Bluetooth Connection, and Wireless Connection (Dongle). We've also added new codec latency measurements and provided an audio sample of recorded latency.Furthermore, a five-minute charge of earbuds in the charging case delivers up to an hour of listening time with Active Noise Cancellation on, and a 15-minute jolt of juice with the earbuds in the charging case delivers up to three hours of listening with Active Noise Cancellation on. Each Google Pixel Buds Pro earbud houses a relatively large 11mm dynamic driver, which should bode well for a talented performance. However, from the very outset of our testing (having run them in fully, you understand) we become aware of several shortcomings in terms of the sonic performance. Android fans wishing they had a true AirPods Pro alternative will be thrilled with the Pixel Buds Pro. They’re comfortable, sound great, and have everything they need to become your go-to earbuds for work, play, and everything in between.

The pebble-like case of the Google Pixel Buds Pro feels robust and cool in our hands and the brushed plastic never collects fingerprint smudges. It charges either wirelessly or via USB-C, although it's important to note that you do not get a charging cable in the box, which doesn't exactly feel premium.

As it stands, however, they mostly bring the company up to speed with competitor models that have been out for a while now. If you’re a Pixel phone devotee looking for a pair of compatible buds, by all means, go for it. Just don’t expect to be wowed. Firmware 3.14 has added a graphic EQ and presets to their companion app. As a result, we've updated App Support, and the scoring of this test has changed. We've also remeasured latency across devices in Bluetooth and the scoring of this test has also changed.
