About this deal

Is it just me or does that Gryph-hound look a bit peeved that his owner is walking around with what could be a relative hanging over his shoulder?

The box contains two Reference Sheets. These take the core-most concepts and most vital workings of a game of Age of Sigmar and strip them down further still so you can have them at your elbow during a game. In terms of building the models, things were pretty easy going, but there are a couple of takeaways I’d want to use if I was doing them again: I’ll be taking a look at the literature in this box as FauxHammer can’t read will be busy cutting, glueing, filing, and photographing all the lovely miniatures that come in the Dominion box. With the AoS 3.0 Dominion box coming very soon, we wanted to see what kind of value you can get from grabbing one of these! Praetors: Praetor retinues are amongst the finest bodyguards in all the realms, linked to their ward at an arcane level. These models come supplied with 3x Citadel 40mm Round Bases. The book contains a run-down of the Age of Beasts, as well as the lore of each unit in the box. There’s nothing in here that’ll get you playing the game. One for the bibliophiles.

Paint the ropes with Citadel Contrast Flesh-Tearers Red and any Wood or other straps in Citadel Contrast Wyldwood.

What this leaves us with is a guide of random numerical sequences which gets more complicated as you go through and get to the models with multiple build configurations. Knight-Arcanum: Members of the mysterious Valedictor temple, Knights-Arcanum are unknowable but potent mages charged with protecting recovered ancient lore. The model comes supplied with a Citadel 40mm Round Base. The guide itself 9and I have this complaint with all 3 beginners guides) proved multiple options for some of the models, allowing you to build 1 of your rank and file units as a leader. However, neither this guide nor (as far as I have seen) suggest which is the best configuration for you to have from the start. The Killaboss has the option of a shield or flail for example. As a beginner, you may select whichever one looks cooler, but when it comes to the game you will soon find that your unit loadout has an impact. More details. I hit the boots with Dryad Bark and the leather in between armor plates with Mournfang Brown. Those’ll get washed with Agrax Earthshade later on. I also paint the scale mail and spear tip with Leadbelcher. I neglected to take step-by-step photos while painting, so here are the recipes and a couple of screenshots! I use mostly non-GW paints, but the exact paints are less important than the colors and the techniques.

Often incorrectly referred to as Stormcast Vindicators (which is something else entirely), this is another relatively straightforward sprue. You do, however, get two in the box, so you can build 10 of these warriors with some fairly decent variation across the unit(s). As with all my Kruleboyz, I wanted the Hobgrots to have the pale blue flesh of creatures who aren’t accustomed to seeing much sunlight. I also figured they wouldn’t have access to a wide array of materials to make armor/clothes/kit, so there’s a very utilitarian feel to their gear. It also has the added bonus of being very efficient to paint and it helps to unify the scheme across a very diverse set of models. This scheme is very straightforward, but also very effective. I use a LOT of non-GW paints on my models. You can achieve the same results with GW paints in similar colors, I just use other paint lines and have for a long time. The exact paints are less important than the colors and the techniques! function expandHamburgerMenu(){x=elById("hammenu");y=elById("restorer");ywidth=parseInt(y.style.width);xwidth=parseInt(x.style.width);xwidth+=5;ywidth=100-xwidth;x.style.width=xwidth+"%";y.style.width=ywidth+"%";if(x.style.width=="70%"){}else{setTimeout(function(){expandHamburgerMenu();},1);}}Whatever the reason, Dominion is an unmissable boxed set for miniature painters. There are some of the best models ever sculpted available at some of the lowest possible prices. We don’t know what will come next but following the precedent set by Indomitus, we can hazard a guess that you’ll see various starter sets with a selection, but probably not all, of the models above. The basing is extremely simple, just Agrellan Earth, dried in the sun for an hour or so, then some Middenland Tufts applied. I rolled a 7 to charge my Vinditcor-Prime, which was enough for me to charge at a Kruleboy, both of which were 6″ away. If your unit cannot finish a charge within 0.5″ of the targeted enemy unit, it cannot charge that phase. As I mentioned above, my Krulboyz hero scheme is based on the Blue-Tongued skink. Initially I was going to carry the blue spot color motif forward onto the heroes, but ultimately decided that that didn’t make as much narrative sense. The Hobgrots are subservient to the larger Kruleboyz. Instead, I decided to carry the Hobgrotz skin forward as the leather worn by the hero. It’s a vicious society and any Hobgrot that steps out of line is turned into hides. Yet there seem to be two main camps on the subject: those who love the classic WHF Orks or Orruks and just wanted these to be of similar style but Sigmarised. And the other camp is those who heard the rumours that Dominion would introduce a new race, only to find that this race is as new as Dark Eldar, Wood Elves or Chaos Space Marines.
