About this deal

It was such a privilege to be part of this amazing project. The entire creative team especially the young cast were phenomenal. I am delighted that BYMT has decided to bring Breadboy to stage for their new season. They have a friend in the electronics industry, who gives them broken TVs. The pair can then use these TVs in their sketches, and as they are broken, will often be stabbed or stepped on by the end. Specialising in creating new music theatre, BYMT works with leading industry professionals to offer high-quality training for young singers, actors, dancers and musicians as well as emerging artists and stage technicians. Platinum-selling local singer/songwriter Duke Special and Derry-born comedian Andrew Doyle will be part of the creative team bringing Macaulay’s much-loved memoir to life. Both worked on Paperboy too, with Duke Special, aka Peter Wilson, composing the music and Doyle writing the lyrics.

Yes, Breadboy was turning out to be a bit of a stale read. That is, until the 70% location of the Kindle version. For suddenly, at about the 70% location of the story, the writing started sounding like it was written by the author who wrote the first book! It became funny and touching and just written a whole lot better. That last 30% made me love this second book almost as much as the first. When BYMT did Paperboy [focusing on Macaulay's life as a 12-year-old infatuated with Doctor Who and the Bay City Rollers], the kids knew all the history of Belfast and knew how their characters fitted into it and I think that's important," he adds. They got the idea to create sketches around a heretic son in a Crusader/Deus Vult family because Father got a Christmas gift, full of Crusader costumes. Later, out of nowhere, the duo thought of creating a comedic video. They said there is no intention with the idea. A casting call has been launched for young Derry performers to take part in a new musical set in Belfast during the 1970s.Breadboy' is a strongly autobiographical novel, in which Tony Macaulay recollects his years as a teenager in Belfast, Northern Ireland, 1977-1979. The novel is the follow-up of 'Paperboy', but can easily be read on its own. Whenever I select Arduboy optimised core, I hit compile errors like the ones below and cannot proceed.BYMT really caters for ages 11 to 21, but even at primary school there is a great role for drama," he says. "I think schools, generally speaking, could do more to 'big up' the arts within an educational setting. Tony Macaulay, the writer of Breadboy, said: “Everyone involved in the musical adaptation for Paperboy was overwhelmed by the reception it received over the past two years.
