This book was translated from French to English, so maybe their way of writing (and their humor) is different from mine- but I just didn’t get this book. As he emerges gently from his sleep, my husband moves closer to me, but I turn around in time to escape his grasp. The prologue hints at a looming crisis, but what maintains the suspense is the heroine’s combination of subjugation and vengeful empowerment (the secret notebook in which she logs her husband’s misdemeanours feels like payback for every fairytale women have been fed about romantic love).
