Also, she did think he just wanted to hire her, how the hell was she supposed to know he wanted to get to know her because he wanted to DATE her? Jenna Peterson’s Guide to Dating Emotionally Unavailable Men: When dating an emotionally unavailable man, get ready for disappointment. I loved the family relationships and characters having to discover their true selves and facing hard things and healing and learning and growing and so much more! Not Nice by Aziz Gazipura is a self-improvement book that helps us overcome the fear of rejection and build healthy boundaries.

Aziz uses engaging stories, humor, and disarming vulnerability to cut through the nice conditioning and liberate the most bold, expressive, authentic version of you. He doesn't focus very much on the, "how this person became the way they are" and then how they slowly became more "real", only focuses on how they had said one thing and somehow we are supposed to believe they changed after that one conversation. Gazipura stresses that overcoming the Nice Guy Syndrome doesn't mean becoming unkind or indifferent. I appreciate that it's pretty straightforward and yes almost cliche, but it still easily held my attention.

Gazipura frequently meanders around a topic for pages upon pages without reaching anything resembling a conclusion. The hard copy is beneficial to have to ensure you can do the exercises and reflect back on achievements. Within just a few minutes I was fixed to the spot with surprise, as listening to the points he made in that 45 minute conversation was like someone sounding a gong behind my head!

i picked up this book on a whim because i've been reading up on self-help books to help me work on myself, and this title appealed to me because i have a problem where i don't speak up. I felt like he was mirroring everything I was struggling internally with and the logic and exercises he shares are so helpful and insightful to me.Knowing this book is about being “emotionally unavailable”… I always wonder how people put up w love interests who give them one word answers? She has her own baggage with past relationships that is woven into her humorous narrative, and she goes through her own realizations as she gets closer to Aiden and discovers some hard truths about herself. I think this is the only swoon moment he has the whole book other than his predictable “gift” at the end.

There are many people who have difficulty with this skill — but luckily, it is something you can teach yourself to do. I am personally a very empathic person and would usually care that other people are feeling great in my presence. The publication is sold with the idea that the publisher is not required to render accounting, officially permitted, or otherwise, qualified services. Long answer: I've struggled with people pleasing, anxiety, low self esteem, and stuttering my whole life. The author does an excellent job of exploring the negative effects of people-pleasing, staying silent, and feeling guilty, and provides practical advice for how to overcome these tendencies.

Aziz' somewhat annoying, very male, totally self-confident approach was just the medicine I needed to break through the bubbles I'd constructed around my behavior and expectations as I sacrificed my needs for those of my family during my child-raising years. While it was repetitive at times, it made me more mindful of when I'm being 'too nice' and not my authentic self.
