These air mattresses are almost identical in every way. The main difference is that the Klymit Static V2 is actually lighter than the regular Static V. While the Static V weighs 18.1 ounces, the Static V2 only weighs 16.33 ounces. The reason why this was made possible is the fact that the V2 has a lighter fabric on the top than the Static V. Nevertheless, the Static V2 is still ultra-durable. For the typical camper who doesn’t need to worry about every ounce of weight, the Static v2 offers more comfort than many of its competitors. While there are sleeping pads that are warmer or lighter or more durable, the Klymit Static v2 hits a sweet spot between all of these considerations and is less expensive than most pads currently on the market. For anyone new to camping or for individuals who don’t want to spend a large sum of money on equipment, the Static v2 is ideal.

Twist-Pull Valve: Secure and simple, it allows inflation in as few as 10 breaths and opens wide for rapid, complete deflation. The Klymit Static v2 comes from a diverse line of sleeping pads that meet the needs of various outdoor niches. The Klymit Static V was the original model upon which the Static v2 was based, and it offers slightly more durability but weighs a few ounces more. I can see how some sleepers wouldn’t like the V-shape or need time to get used to it, but both my boyfriend and I felt comfortable and stable on this pad. I will say that I used this sleeping pad in the lower 40s (F) without any insulation between the floor and my pad or my pad and my sleeping bag. I still stayed warm, despite this pad’s low rating. This could be due to its deep weld patterning.

If you want a 3-4 season sleeping pad, then the V2 is not for you, as this is a non-insulated pad that focuses on weight and comfort over the R-Value. This is also a uni-sex sleeping pad. Women-specific pads insulate the core and feet area more. The most noticeable difference between Klymit Static V and V2 is their weight. If you’re looking to have a more lightweight sleeping pad, get the Klymit V2. Anti Microbial Laminate: Permeates the inside laminate to inhibit the growth of microorganisms, including fungus and bacteria, that can cause odors and material damage. The screw valve can restrict air going in and force you to work harder to get in the same amount of, or less, air.While there are other pads on the market that use thinner materials and weigh less, these pads tend to be more prone to punctures, rips, and tears along the seams. Their fabric also tends to be noisier. You’ll need to decide for yourself if durability or weight is your top priority. Best Applications, Limitations & Value If you are going out in the winter with this pad, bringing a patch kit as well as a foam pad to put underneath it is going to be pretty important.

If it rains or snows, for example, a large outer-attached sleeping mat can become soaked and thus lose the insulated properties for which you rely on it. Every sleeping pad comes with an advisable number of breaths for inflation. The inflation pressure of your sleeping pad is more of a personal preference. That’s why we suggest that you experiment with various pressure levels to find what’s best suited. It is crucial to not over-inflate your sleeping pad since it may cause problems along the way.
