About this deal

from a simple, lighthearted game, into a strategic battle that I ponder over as much as I’ve ever studied a Chess board.

is a simple tile collection game which has so few rules it can be taught and played in under 5 minutes which makes it a great game for kids, people looking for a light starter and simpletons like me.As the game progresses, the available landing points diminish as more and more ice floes disappear from the board. Since you are removing hex tiles each turn - often from the middle of the board - the board gets bumped quite a bit. It's very addictive too, as games are fairly short and you always feel like it was your own fault for losing. A game can last anywhere from 5-10 minutes, so after a couple of rounds your ready to start a more medium/heavy game.

I am asking you this question to highlight that your hood is up because our readers, at home, cannot see how you have decided to array your attire. We are a group of passionate individuals who share our love of board games through written and video reviews, articles, and humor, so that others can join us in our journey. I'd love to put the game in a tiny bag and throw out the massive waste of a box, but I can't seem to want to take things out of their original packaging. I could tell, at one point, that he was near a sort of “peninsula” full of fish and made a go for it. When a penguin can't move, it's removed from play with its owner claiming the tile on which it stands.Presumably, you’re ramming them down the beaks of your penguin children, children that are not themselves depicted because, like all children, they are fundamentally a source of shame and must remain unseen.

Sounds easy, but as the ice disappears, it gets harder and harder for penguins to find fish to feed on. They then carefully take the hex/ice flow they moved from and remove it from the board, leaving a gap that no penguin can cross over. This game is a lot of fun and while easy to play, even for kids, has a surprising amount of strategy. You’ll not only have to do a risk assessment on that penguin’s earning potential, but you’ll also need to reconsider all your penguins when it’s your turn again because your opponent is trying to cut you off from parts of the board as well. This could just as easily have been squirrels and nuts, butterflies and flowers, or cubes and rings. is a surprisingly complex game when played with any number and deserves more attention from serious gamers.

One of the common traits amongst most Abstract Strategy games is that they have no theme, no story, no background. We love playing this as a family and my husband and I have been known to continue playing after the kids are in bed (we are very competitive! The board is made up of small tiles, so this can be a bit fiddly and smaller children might mess it up a bit while playing, but they'll be able to join in too. Newcomers and fans of this classic board game will enjoy the solo option against a clever AI opponent, perfect for a quick casual game during the day, or a more intense struggle to beat your best score. Playing against other seasoned board gamers can lead to some pretty interesting back and forth’s as you attempt to send your opponent’s penguin adrift on their own tiny iceberg island while you roam free snapping up all the fish on the mainland. Don’t let the vague, cutesy theme distract you—this is a serious abstract worthy of your consideration.
