About this deal

The plot moves along at a swift pace and does require a smidge more concentration than other books in the same genre. There are multiple storylines that weave through this book, and although they appear unrelated, Gold slowly but surely skilfully brings them together. I thank Robert Gold for bringing my younger days back to me and giving me such pleasure and enjoyment in his extremely talented story telling. The author is an absolute genius and has earned himself a place right on my top favourites alongside James Patterson - if you enjoy Pattersons books then this is definitely the way to go. Needless to say, there are lots of red herrings as the story twists and turns its course throughout the book and quite a few times I was caught in the trap of believing that everything had been fully revealed.

stata una lettura veloce e piacevole, non ho fatto fatica a seguire i vari personaggi e scoprire piano piano i loro segreti. I was on my toes the entire time, the information is revealed in a smart subtle way which has a lasting effect. I would even say that it’s better than the first one, which is amazing because Twelve Secrets was brilliant. After the shocking events of Twelve Secrets, the first book in this series, where Ben’s family and devastating past were centre stage, he’s hoping to get stuck back into work and start producing a true crime podcast alongside his boss, online news site owner Madeline Wilson. Penso che questo libro sia di passaggio per poi aprire realmente la storia successiva sul coinvolgimento della Freeman sull’aggressione di Mat e avercela tanto con il padre di Dani e la droga con i Baxter…. And when the identity of the victim is revealed, Ben is confronted with a crime that is terrifyingly close to home.

We read the story from different character perspectives and really widens the story so it’s easy to see various sides of the story. You don’t really have to read TWELVE SECRETS to appreciate this one, but I would strongly recommend it so you have an idea of the characters and relationships. Thank you to NetGalley, Pigeonhole, Robert Gold and Sphere/Little Brown Book Group for the chance to read this book.

Perhaps that’s because Ben’s story was laid bare in the first book, and Eleven Liars felt more about Dani which is something I appreciated. Gold has weaved a very complex family backstory for Dani and the further into the story you go, the more is explored and some of the revelations are a definite eye-opener. This was an enjoyable read with likeable protagonists and I will certainly look out for the previous book in the series as well as any further books n the future. I enjoyed this book a lot more than the first instalment of the series - the pace of this one was so much better and I like how each chapter ends on a mini cliffhanger because it makes you want to read on more. The plot and the way the book is laid out is easy to follow, broken down in days so it’s easier to get an understanding of time frame. This was an intriguing read, there was a few sub plots going on which could get a little confusing but it also meant there was a lot to be revealed and it all wrapped up rather well. The ending had me heartbroken and crying but I really liked the ending and felt like it sets the scene nicely for the third book (which I need immediately! But when fire investigators start sifting through the debris, they discover a skeleton in the foundations of the building.

The story is mostly told from Ben's perspective; but we do get chapters from Dani, both in the present and past. As he goes past he sees there is a fire in the disused community centre and then someone in the building! There was some repetition in this book where it’s repeating the events that occurred in the first book, which is good if you need a refresher or if you plan to read this book as a stand-alone (which you definitely could!

As he uncovers a web of deceit and destruction that goes back decades, Ben quickly learns that in this small town, everybody has something to hide.
