About this deal

The band’s frontman, Roy Stride, has writing credits on singles like One Direction’s “Stand Up” and 5 Seconds of Summer’s “Invisible”. HOMETOWN London, England I use everything: MasterWriter, RhymeZone, Urban Dictionary, a thesaurus, anything that’ll give me an edge. But sometimes I’ll just start in my head. The fun bit is doing the melody and the production, and all that, but the hard bit is the lyric. There’s never a right answer and it could always be better – it’s about where you draw the line and you’ve got no more. In September 2019, Scouting for Girls released their fifth album, The Trouble with Boys, featuring the singles "Count On Me" and "Grown Up" (co-written by James Blunt). A UK tour to promote the new album was also announced for November and December 2019 including a sold out headline show at the Shepherds Bush Empire.

The Place We Used To Meet’ was written and recorded in the same way that they recorded their debut single ‘She’s So Lovely’ in 2007. It’s an album full of the instantly memorable, life-affirming, singalong indie-pop with which they made their name, with songs that resonate with stories of longing and loss. The band still consists of its original line-up: Roy Stride, Greg Churchouse and Peter Ellard. Sean Penn won the award for Best Actor at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival. [4] Robin Wright received a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role at the 4th Screen Actors Guild Awards. While Scouting For Girls are in their best place in years, circumstances leading up to this new album proved to be especially challenging. After losing 18 months of touring - their favourite part of being in a band - they were eager to hit the road after Covid restrictions were lifted. Their return was the biggest party imaginable… until it wasn’t. As the months passed, Roy’s life unravelled and he realised he had to make a change and on New Year’s Eve of 2021 he sank his final drink before dedicating the start of 2022 to recovery.
