About this deal
The novel was originally published with a quote miscredited to Cao Zhi from his work the Luo Shen Fu, it would later be replaced with a quote by Alexander Pope from his work An Essay on Man.
When his six friends died in the dragon head conflict, Dazai was the only one who managed to survive. Verlaine would be a few minutes too late and find the room being emptied with Chuuya still hung on he wall. That guy was a wholeseller Chuuya was supposed to be making a deal with for the jewel trade he was in charge of. Along the way, many truths will be revealed…including the answer to Chuuya’s most pressing question: Is he himself even human? As compared to the previous six, this novel is the longest, most laborious, and the one written in a lot of different places all the while groaning as I think about the this and the that, and all the possibilities that could happen. While the plot is a little bloated, it does not suffer the problem to the same extent as the others. If I may add, this novel is set as the continuation of the novel "Dazai, Chuuya, 15 years old" which was released about a year and a half ago.
It’s been roughly one year since Chuuya Nakahara joined the Port Mafia, and he’s determined to become an executive before fellow mafioso Osamu Dazai. After Chūya is shown Verlaine's memories on how Guivre was thwarted nine years ago, Adam initiates his Final Protocol, his secret mission, and sacrifices himself to incinerate Guivre using the Shell built inside him, but to little avail. It's been roughly one year since Chuya Nakaharajoined the Port Mafia, and he's got his sights set on an executiveposition. For his one-year anniversary in the Mafia, Chūya is surprised by his friends, the Flags, who hand him a photograph of him as an ordinary child after going behind Ōgai Mori's back to uncover Chūya's background. So this was after the boys’ 16th birthdays, July 18th +3 months, placing SB’s events at somewhere at least mid-October, even November. Using Verlaine's memory and as per Verlaine's plea to his brother, Arahabaki Chūya unleashes his energy on Guivre and defeats it.
