About this deal

There are aspects that I have always believed, some that are new, but feel true, and others that don’t fit into my belief system. Mary’s gospel and other more recently discovered sacred texts focus on the internal transformation that Christ went through and that we can all go through. Goodreads Synopsis: A gospel, as ancient and authentic as any of the gospels that the Christian bible contains, was buried deep in the Egyptian desert after an edict was sent out in the 4th century to have all copies of it destroyed.

What’s for sure is that Jesus intended for Mary to be part of the process – not excluded and tossed aside. A thought provoking, insightful, humble, reflection of an ancient manuscript and a kind of coming-of-age of the author, as she navigates the challenges and the yearnings her own life presents. She is a feminist theologian with a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School and a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary at Columbia University. Mary Magdalene Revealed brings together the exquisite balance of personal experience and the uncovering of spiritual texts that quite simply rock and lovingly challenge the Christianity of the world today. I have known for a long time that the picture the church painted of Mary Magdalene was not accurate.I believe Spirit shows up and manifests in so many different ways, and that the Spirit indwelling in each of us imparts a bit of sacred divinity. I first listened to the sample, and it is NOT from the book at all -- it is not a scene from a later chapter, or a sample of a page. She helped me realize that not all ministers have a church, and that maybe, women have never really been missing from the pulpit; they just found other mediums and means. The author, Meggan Watterson, is a feminist theologian with a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School and a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary at Columbia University. Tell us the words of the Savior that you remember, the things which you know that we don’t because we haven’t heard them.

For example, when Watterson was worrying about flying across the Atlantic, she left it to The Universe (my interpretation) and was led to take the Queen Mary instead (resulting in so many enlightening moments for the author). This book is a journey of discovering Mary Magdalene, understanding the beginning of Christianity from the times when Mary was the beloved and not erased from the story, with a very modern approach as a writing style. There was a story about Jesus that won out…that was created in the 4th century…guided by a unified version of Christianity.

She was present at the Jesus’ crucifixion, she was there at the burial, and she was there alone at the empty tomb, and the first to witness the resurrection. What Jesus taught Mary Magdalene appears in The Gospel of Mary, but we will never know Christ’s teachings because portions of Mary’s gospel have been destroyed.

She makes it safe for you to explore your own emotions while she journeys through the paradox of traveling long distances to find something that has always been inside of you. Can’t say thank you enough for the recognition of both masculine and feminine, for we are both; interwoven and dependent for survival. And she shares how this discovery of Mary’s gospel has allowed her to practice, and to experience, a love that never ends, a love that transforms everything. Now that I’ve read Mary Magdalene Revealed, I have a kinder, more accurate interpretation of the Ego. A gospel, as ancient and authentic as any of the gospels that the Christian bible contains, was buried deep in the Egyptian desert after an edict was sent out in the 4th century to have all copies of it destroyed.

Mary Magdalene's gospel says that we are not sinful, but that humans too, are made of the divine - and that divinity is not something you can receive through confession or absolution, but by turning inward and tuning in to the radical presence of love within. The Gospel is Mary did not make the cut because it is not a patriarchal interpretation of Christ’s teachings and is, instead, an ascent narrative. I have found that to be fully human / divine, women and men must " vest in otherness so as to be present to pristine goodness, image and likeness. I'm sure mistakes have been made in interpretation through the centuries, even those based solely on chauvinistic ideas. Meggan Watterson is a theologian who studied at Harvard Divinity School and Columbia University’s Theological Seminary. As the calendar turned to December, I thought it would be the perfect time to read something about Christianity, and Meggan Watterson’s book found its way to my nightstand. Moments that I literally wanted to sob in deep recognition and remembrance of a truth so deeply buried my heart burst open. In daily life I practice healing and helping I infuse natural Alaskan herbal healing oils and share them without cost to others. Meggan facilitates the REDLADIES - a community of radical love that lets her preach about female saints, mystics, gurus, and poets who inspire and teach us to live in service of love. I am only 2 hours in and while the author's autobiographical narratives are nice stories, they do little to teach me about what I came to this book to learn.
